About

"Understand me. I'm not like an ordinary world. I have my madness, I live in another dimension and I do not have time for things that have no soul."

Charles Bukowski
Angelique with her Rolleiflex camera

This quote inspired me to make the transition from digital to analog photography — a decision I made a few years ago after years of shooting digital.

I started with a Yashica Mat-124G, which was soon joined by a Rolleiflex twin-lens camera with a Planar lens. To take full control of the process, I also completed a course in developing my own film — refining both quality and personal style.

And that process is precisely what I love about analog photography. The uniqueness of each image, the slow process of searching for the right moment, the limitation of twelve frames per 6×6 roll.

It has taught me to look carefully at my subjects — to think before pressing the shutter. What do I want to capture? How is the light? Does it have the right atmosphere? Does it have a soul?

That is why portrait photography is closest to my heart. The greatest compliment I can receive is when someone looks at their photo and says: "You saw me. That is me."

My digital camera is now once again part of my practice too — but having learned to look through analog, I rarely need many shots to find the right image.

In short: a beautiful and fascinating process I love sharing with others in meaningful collaborations.
